Maker Days 2025 Keychain PCBs

How I made rocket-shaped PCB keychains with light-sensitive flame LEDs for Maker Days 2025.

Front and back of the Maker Days rocket PCB keychains

I made these rocket-shaped PCB keychains for Maker Days 2025. The idea was to create something more interesting than a normal business card: a small board that showed my social links and did something when you picked it up.

EasyEDA and JLCPCB helped make the boards possible.

A simple light interaction

Each board has a light-dependent resistor and three LEDs in the rocket flame. As the surrounding light gets darker, the LEDs glow brighter. It is a simple circuit, but it gives the keychain a playful interaction that fits the rocket shape.

Full-colour silkscreen

The detailed artwork is printed over a white PCB using full-colour silkscreen. The matte finish made it possible to use the entire board as an illustration while still keeping visible traces, components and a battery holder on the back.

Build your own

I published the design files so other makers can inspect, adapt and manufacture the board. Check the licence included with the project before redistributing a modified version.
